Why Supporting Local Matters – And How We Do It at Cypress Bodywork

As a small business owner, I understand firsthand the value of shopping local. It’s no secret that small businesses face significant challenges in today’s economy. In fact, studies show that around 20% of small businesses fail within their first year.

Cypress Bodywork began as a deeply personal mission: to help people find the same relief and healing I experienced after an accident in my teenage years that left muscles separated from my spine. The bodywork I received during that time was nothing short of life-changing, and I knew I wanted to offer that same level of care to others. But like most small business journeys, the road to where Cypress Bodywork is today hasn’t always been easy.

One thing I’ve learned along the way is that small businesses thrive when communities support one another. And the benefits of doing so are far-reaching:

Because of these values, I’ve made it a mission at Cypress Bodywork to support small, local makers and artisans whenever possible. Many of the lotions and oils I use during sessions are created right here in Tallahassee, FL, and Thomasville, GA, by incredibly talented people who share a passion for wellness and quality. When I travel, I also make a point to visit small businesses and bring back items that align with our mission.

While not every product I use is local, I’m intentional about choosing high-quality, skin-nourishing therapies, and I often send clients home with these products to help extend their relief between sessions.
